Come meet other Grade 9 parents and School Council parents to chat about wins, jitters, and parent-to-parent support as you start the new year in a big school!

Join us for a relaxing one-hour walk with fresh air and good conversation in a beautiful setting. Dogs welcome. Meet at the Funeral Centre parking lot at Mt Pleasant Cemetery. Mingle with other parents at the Granite Brewery after Curriculum Night! A great opportunity for finding out more about navigating Northern, getting involved, and making connections with other parents with similar interests. School Council will supply finger foods; drinks are cash and carry.

School Council meets in the Northern Secondary Heritage Room (Room 114). Our meetings are hybrid – you can attend in person or online. If you would like to attend virtually, please email us at nss.school.council@gmail.com with the subject line “School Council Meeting Link.” The link will be sent by 5 pm the day of the meeting.

At this meeting, up to 15 parent members are chosen as School Council 26-27. Voting only happens if there are more than 15 parents nominated. All in attendance are allowed to vote. In-person voting is by paper ballot; virtual voting is by google form.

Then, the executive positions (2 co-chairs, 2 co-treasurers, and 2 co-secretaries) are filled by the 15 members.

Finally, the new members have a brief time of onboarding and discuss interests and priorities for the year.
