Our Mission Is To Give Parents A Voice In How The School Functions
THE SCHOOL COUNCIL
COMMITTEES
The Heart of Our School Council
Committees are where the real work of the School Council happens. They’re a fantastic way to connect with other parents, get to know the school better, and make a meaningful impact on our children’s experience.
Each committee focuses on a specific aspect of our school community, offering recommendations or taking action on behalf of the School Council. Whether they’re long-standing, newly created, or temporary, all committees play a vital role in supporting our school’s goals.
Every committee reports directly to the School Council and is led by a chairperson and a parent member.
We welcome all Northern parents to join one (or more!) of our committees at any time. If you’re interested in getting involved, fill out the Volunteer Form for more information.

The Budget Committee is responsible for managing the approved School Council budget. We review and approve Funding requests to ensure resources are allocated effectively to support student success.
Caring and Safe Committee
The Caring and Safe Committee meets four times a year with student and Vice Principal representatives to address and resolve safety concerns within the Northern community.

The Education Committee focuses on research and advocacy for changes in education policy that impact student success.

The Election Committee is responsible for coordinating and managing the School Council election, ensuring a smooth and fair process.
Fundraising
The Fundraising Committee helps create a “Wish List” to guide our Annual Ask and organizes additional fundraising events as needed.
Gifted Advisory Committee
The Gifted Advisory Committee (GAC) supports parents of gifted students, regardless of program enrollment. We provide resources and advocacy for issues related to gifted education. To join the GAC mailing list, complete this form.
Nutrition
The Nutrition Committee supports the student nutrition program, managed by April Vibert (Student Success), and connects with parent volunteers to enhance the program’s effectiveness.
Parent Buddies
The Parent Buddies Committee organizes opportunities to build and enjoy parent-to-parent connections. We host bi-weekly walks, monthly game nights, and other community events.
Website
