Let’s Slay The Goal! Raising Funds For Our Northern Community

Dear Northern Families,

Northern provides a great educational experience for students through academics, diverse extracurricular activities and clubs, and robust athletics program. Although there is a budget provided to every school to support school activities, it’s not enough. Although there is a student activity fee, it’s not enough. The reality is that many additional needs fall outside of the TDSB budget.

This is where you come in. We need your support. We need to raise funds to help support Northern and offset the shortfall that exists every year. Our priority areas include:

• Athletic Teams and Clubs – we have over 100 clubs at Northern – something for everyone!
• Supplementary Classroom Equipment & Resources for Teachers & Students
• Nutrition Program for Students in Need
• Mental Health & Wellness Initiatives
• Special Speakers on Key Topics
• Staff Appreciation

We are asking our families to consider making a contribution to support these priority areas that have been collectively identified by teachers, parents, students and administration. We want to ensure that Northern remains the vibrant and well-resourced school it is known to be. If we can’t make up the shortfall, we will simply not be able to support our Northern community in the same way that we have done in the past.

Of course, there is no obligation to make a monetary contribution. This is simply an ask, and if you are able to give a contribution of any kind, it would be sincerely appreciated. Any and all contributions are welcome and range from $5-$500. Our goal is to raise $20,000, which is an average of $10 per student!

Campaign kicks off today and ends on Friday November 27, 2026.

HOW DO I MAKE A CONTRIBUTION?

1. Make your contribution through your School Cash Online account. You will see a specific item that says “Let’s Slay the Goal – Contribution to Northern School Council Fundraising Campaign”

2. Write a cheque to Northern School Council. Students can drop off in the office.

WHEN AND HOW WILL THE MONEY BE SPENT?

This campaign is focussed on Northern’s key priority areas that have been identified by parents, students, teachers and administration. We promise any amount of support you provide through our campaign will have a direct impact on students and families at Northern. 100% of your contribution will be spent this year, on your students and support priority areas. A win-win for everyone!

HOW WILL I KNOW HOW MY CONTRIBUTION IS SPENT?

We ensure full transparency and we report back on funds raised. We will provide our community with a written report as well as verbal reports at our Council meetings. You will know first hand how your contribution made a difference!
